Introduction


NanoPi M5, designed and developed by FriendlyElec, is a high-performance single-board computer based on the Rockchip RK3576 SoC with 64-bit LPDDR4X/LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 2.0 storage (optional), and it supports booting from a TF card. Its RK3576 processor features 4 ARM Cortex-A72 cores and 4 ARM Cortex-A53 cores, and comes with an ARM Mali G52 MC3 GPU and a 6 TOPS INT8 NPU for excellent graphics and AI performance. It supports advanced video decoding and encoding, including 8K@30fps and 4K@120fps decoding (H.265/HEVC, VP9, AVS2, and AV1), and 4K@60fps decoding (H.264/AVC) and encoding (H.265/HEVC and H.264/AVC), making it ideal for high-performance multimedia and AI applications.

NanoPi M5 offers rich hardware resources and numerous interfaces in a compact 90 x 62 mm form factor, such as an M.2 NVMe port, USB 3.0 ports, MIPI-CSI, MIPI-DSI, an M.2 SDIO socket, and a 30-pin header supporting GPIO, I2C, I2S, PWM, and SPI for secondary development. It also has an HDMI port that can connect to a 4K 60Hz display and optionally supports a MIPI DSI interface. Additionally, it supports USB Type-C power delivery and can connect to a 5V fan. It is equipped with dual GbE ports for high-speed wired connections.

NanoPi M5 is compatible with multiple operating systems, including Android 14, Debian, Ubuntu, FriendlyWrt, Buildroot, and OpenMediaVault, and supports Docker applications. It can run large models and supports local AI application deployment. Furthermore, it offers M.2 expansion for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth functionality.
